Pay Attention to the Lamp in the Dark Place
Updated: Apr 29
Simple obedience changes history.
Oh, how the world's current history needs a kick in the right direction.
God already gave the remedy.
Read 2 Peter 1:19-20 with me:
"And so we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. But know this first of all: that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but by people moved by the Holy Spirit, spoken from God."
God laid out the entire deal and made it all rest upon His Son.
This is how to apply ancient Scripture to your modern day story:
When you simply believe and rest your hope on Jesus and nothing else, He cares for you. You can stop worrying and let Him take hold of your life and make it better than you ever hoped to make it be.
God cares for you. All will be well. He will work everything out. Just pay attention to Jesus and do as He says!
Every word that God speaks comes to pass eventually. That is a fact. He knows the end from the beginning, and He sees the plan that will complete the thing His perfect way. Within that truth, He knows your little life in its entirety. He know the plans He has for you, to give you a good future and a solid hope. So following His way, you can have a positive expectation of a great outcome, no matter what happens in the mix.
Furthermore, every word Father God speaks is fulfilled in Jesus, the person in the Bible. You do well to pay attention to Him as you would a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your heart (translation: passing over into the next phase of life, past the door of death.)
Keep your attention on Jesus.
He's the light that illuminates your life.
All prophecy was God speaking through the Holy Spirit who rested on people who were paying attention...and it all came to pass or is coming to pass now. Even world history has and will align with His Word, every word of which points straight to the person of Jesus Christ. Over 800
Everything hinges on alignment with Jesus.
God's plan is to restore all things. Your life, as it aligns with Jesus, as you stay with Him, will always be tracking toward restoration. The opposite is true if you don't. God's plan for your life is full of grace (undeserved favor) and peace (absolute rest and wellbeing, free of strife or fear about anything). God knows every choice you must make to play out that best-case scenario. Jesus made it possible for us to tap into God's perspective--now He can provide us with intel on a need to know basis and we can experientially know His highest purposes and plans. Keeping your attention on Jesus keeps the channel open between God's heart and yours.
Also: keeping your attention on Jesus fills your whole body with light. Mindsets can get pretty dismal when you're focused on your problems, frustrations and expectations. Lifting your eyes to the one who sets all things right frees you from the downward spiral and reminds you of His power to save, His redemptive nature that works everything out for goodness' sake, His love for you. As you look at Jesus seated on the highest throne, having conquered death and vanquished the power of sin and hell's pull, you realize that you don't have any problems that He can't solve. You elevate above circumstances. The tug of war stops. Your victory is in Jesus' name--the name you get to call yourself by, now that you are betrothed to Him. Attached to Him. Aligned with Him. Whatever concerns you now concerns Him..and He's not worried about it one bit. His glory is light, and that light fills your whole body when your eyes are on His grinning face.
Jesus is your way through this world.
He is your justification
for new choices
for wider vision.
He is your escape
from the matrix
from all destruction.
He is your entrance
into pure joy
into highest life forever.
There are many formulas for success to choose from. Many paths run through life. The best? Look at Jesus. Do what He does. Let His nature become yours and His direction become your trajectory. Release anxiety, fear, resentment, frustration--whatever holds your attention otherwise. Just look to Jesus in the Scriptures, in your imagination, in the people He operates in around you. Do what you see Him do.
Watch and obey--this is love, devotion. This formula will change you in the best way. This will make your life-path straight! This will be how Father God's plan for your life will come to pass. With every choice you make to trust and follow Jesus, Holy Spirit will chisel you into the masterpiece that matches Him. After all, He is your groom and love for eternity. Your main task on earth is to become like Him!
This is how history aligns with God's will. Little lives laid down, choice by choice.
Play your part. Become light as you look to Jesus. See the benefits of God's grand design come to pass in your life. They will exceed your wildest dreams.
